1996 Championnat de Belgique des Superbikes
The entire 1996 season took place in the space of 8 days, with a paltry 5 competitors showing up to Croix-en-Ternois in France and the final taking place the following week at Chimay. It was at least a strong turn-out for the last Belgian Superbike Championship event - 12 Belgian riders and 7 from the UK and Ireland made up a grid that was easily dominated by the visiting Phase One Kawasakis of Steve Ellis and Russell Benney. Two 3rd-places for Wim van Achter were overall victories within the Belgian points-scorers and made it a clean sweep of all three races following his win at the season opener. Van Achter claimed the last Belgian Superbike crown, although for two more years races would take place solely at Croix-en-Ternois to award the unofficial title of "Best Rider".
